The Pollening

I spent some time in Congaree National Forest recently, a low lying swamp park near Columbia, SC. This is not my usual outdoor experience, I tend to be more of a high points reacher with most of my time spent on trails in the remote portions of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I was feeling disappointed as my plans were suddenly diverted, but I came here determined to salvage the day.

I ended up spending quite a while exploring compositions of shadow on the pollen coated waters in the swamplands here. The effect of my best shots was almost like a painting. While its not my most adventurous shoot, it was a great experience getting back to the basics, and these images were the results of that concept
