Description

As the spring flowers bloom in California, one of the prettiest flowers comes out along the coast: the Calla Lily. Normally these lilies start popping out in March and live through April. This year, with California's drought, they were in full bloom by February. I spent a wonderful day in Big Sur ... so nice in fact that I almost missed getting to the spot for sunset ... but eventually made my way to the flowers just as the sun was setting. It was a race to get setup and take photos before the color disappeared. On this evening I had the entire field to myself. A week later the place was crowded with over 25 photographers!
