I was playing around to kill time while waiting for the golden hour to arrive and work its magic on the grand landscape I would shoot later in the day. Using a zoom lens, I stopped down to f/22 and used ISO 100 to slow the shutter speed. Starting with the lens zoomed in on the columbines, I opened the shutter and held for a moment to "burn" the image onto the sensor before zooming out to create the motion blur. This technique requires some trial and error, varying the length of time holding on the flowers as well as the speed of zooming out. Numerous shots are required to get a few usable images. I thought this one was interesting.
