The road begins in Cascade, Colorado and winds its way to the top of Pikes Peak. It is now fully paved.

I photographed this mountain wildflower, a Wild Blue Flax, along the Pikes Peak Toll Road in early September, 2009. The background bokeh complements and allows the eye to be drawn to the petals of this delicate flower.
