Three Sisters

All over southern Maine

Jerusalem Artichoke grows like a weed all over Maine. It is impossible to weed out of your garden, as pulling it up only seems to spur it on to more growth. Eventually, like me, many people allow it to thrive in their yards and fields, and its gracefully arching six foot tall stems burst forth in brilliant yellow daisy-like flowers in late summer. I took this picture, looking up through the stems towards the beautiful late summer sky.
