From Socorro, drive south on I-25 to exit 139 (San Antonio), go east 0.25 miles on US 380 to the flashing signal at the village of San Antonio, turn right onto Old Highway 1, and drive south nine miles to the Visitor Center (on right).
Winter is the best time to visit with thousands of Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese in residence! Weekdays are also better with less cars and people as driving the loop can get frustrating. Get up early to see blast offs and return in the early evenings for the fly ins!
In the early morning, a slow shutter speed captures the motion of a sandhill crane, as it glides over the ponds at Bosque del Apache.
