(This photo is best viewed full screen as the thumbnail appears quite dark.) There was a lot of bear activity in our neighborhood this past summer and I decided to try to catch some of the action with a trail camera ("Critter Cam") which I attached to a tree in our yard. It is triggered by heat or motion thus recording stills (and videos) in color during the day and black and white via an infrared LED at night. I was able to capture this salivating bear at sunset thus causing a near silhouette image with its drool highlighted by the sun. These cameras are inexpensive, a lot of fun and I was able to photograph many bears, raccoons, deer and a coyote as well as more rabbits than I could count during the summer. I never realized that rabbits were so active at night!
