One of Colorado's most dramatic mountains, Lone Eagle Peak, towers over Mirror Lake in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. I hiked the 8.5 miles to reach the lake just in time to catch the late afternoon light. A high contrast situation like this would tempt many photographers to employ HDR techniques. I chose to stick to traditional techniques and allow the trees to register as silhouettes. This image was cropped from a larger panoramic of six vertical photographs stitched together.
