Description

THERE IS A SIDE RD IN ESTES THAT USUALLY ONLY THE LOCALS TAKE AND ALONG THAT RD WAS A BREAVER DAM. IT HAS BEEN THERE FOR WELL OVER FOURTY YEARS. BEEN THERE SINCE I MOVED HERE IN 78. YOU USE TO BE ABLE TO PULL OFF AND WATCH AND SEE THIER WORK. A BEAUTIFUL BEAVER POND AND LODGE VERY CLOSE TO THE RD. BUT LIKE THE SAYING GOES (ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO A END). CONCERNED CITIZERNS AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FOUGHT ABOUT SHOULD THEY STAY? SHOULD THEY BE TAKEN OUT? THE COMPRIMISE A FANCY WALKWAY WITH NO PARKING SIGNS EVERY FIFTY FT (TO BAD THEY DIDNT MAKE THEM OUT OF WILLOW). THEN THE FLOOD CAME AND TOOK THE ENTIRE COLONY OUT. IT RAVAGED THE ROADS, CREEK AND ANYTHING IN ITS PATH. WHAT USE TO BE A QUIT BEAUTIFUL PLACE (ONLY BECAUSE THE BEAVERS WERE THERE) IS GONE. LITERALLY COUNTLESS GENERATIONS OF BEAVER WORK WAS DESTROYED FOREVER. SCOURED OUT DOWN TO BARE ROCK, ALL THAT REMAINS IS TWISTED SLASH, BARE ROCK AND SILT AND THE FEW MEMORIES I TOOK THE TIME TO CAPTURE. IM SO GLAD I DID.
