My family spent a couple of days in Long Beach, Washington over the Christmas break. The weather was as you would expect on the Washington coast, dark, gloomy, and rainy. The first night my husband and I drove out to Cape Disappointment and it was just that - a disappointment. The wind was blowing, the rain was coming down sideways, and it was difficult to hold the umbrella, take pictures, and wipe the lens at the same time. We ended up leaving, but before heading home the next day, we decided to give it another shot. It rained on our way over to the park, so we just assumed we would get more of the same. Then something miraculous happened. The rain stopped, the clouds parted, and the sun came out! We watched wave after giant wave stretch up to the sky, crash into the cliffs, and explode like fireworks! It was a great way to start off Christmas Eve!
