A juvenile bald eagle drops its catch to prepare to defend itself from an approaching adult bald eagle. This is one shot from an amazing sequence I was fortunate enough to be directly in line with and close; perhaps my favorite juvenile shot this season, or at least in the top 3. The juvenile picked up the fish and was flying away when an adult came in to attack. This frame is right before the adult entered the juvie's airspace and as a result dropped the fish and went talons up in defense. Location: Susquehanna River, MD.
