This was an experiment of painting with light and capturing star trails. The church was built in 1873 and is now under the care of a preservation society. I had seen this building in a picture and thought it would be a great subject to try painting with light to illuminate the structure and a time exposure to capture star trails. During this night the glow of city lights was more intense and gave the orange glow which added to the image. I have posted it and been contacted by several people who remember the church from their childhood in the late 30's and 40's. Some even have great-great grandfathers buried at the cemetery. It gave me great pleasure to bring back memories to these people and also others who had no idea the building existed so close to their homes. They had never seen it in that light which to them brought the building to life for them. That is why I consider this my best photo of the year.
