Description: In late summer of last year, I decided to go to the Oregon coast for an adventure. I packed up my tent and my new Nikon D750 and headed north. Most of the locations I visited were covered in heavy fog and some rain, but I made the best of it. Nonetheless, I was eager for a good sunset. Towards the end of my trip, I had reached Cannon Beach and got a reprieve from the dreary weather. I had seen a hundred different photos of the area and really wanted to try and do something different. I spent hours going up and down the beach searching for the perfect composition, knowing that I wanted to do a silhouette shot. Having finally found my spot, I set up my gear and waited for the sunset I had been looking for. Doing the long exposure allowed for Haystack Rock and its companions to be slightly reflected, and since this shot was after sunset there were a lot of natural purples that came through that I decided to keep in the final edit. It was a great adventure with a fantastic payoff!
Gear & Settings: Nikon D750, 16-35mm Nikkor AF-S lens, Nisi Nano IR 10-stop ND filter, Vanguard SBH-100 tripod.
