Description: Pictured is Haystack Rock and The Needles off the Oregon coast near the beachside town of Cannon Beach. The Oregon coast on the Pacific Ocean is a scenic dream come true, and Haystack Rock is a popular sightseeing and photography destination. I captured this early-evening shot on my first ever trip to the Oregon coast. My wife and I flew to Portland from Montana where we rented a minivan and car camped our way up the shore from Bandon Beach in the south to Astoria, Oregon, at the northern end. We had the pleasure of seeing some stunningly beautiful vistas, tremendous marine wildlife and incredible geological formations. The colors at night along the coast are almost unreal purples, pinks, blues and oranges. We were completely shocked to learn that, at night when the tide went out, the ocean floor was completely uncovered and we could walk across it all the way to the rocks! This was my first trip to this photographer’s paradise. I can’t wait to return for more.
