Nephi Boren took advantage of last weekend's rare "Supermoon" to get this photo. Boren was in Zion National Park in Utah and used a Canon EOS Rebel T3i with a 75-300mm lens. The photo was submitted to the Moon Shots Assignment
David Shield's photo from the Mammoth Lakes area of California's Eastern Sierra Nevada region is today's Photo Of The Day. Shield submitted the photo to the View From The Top Assignment which is open for submissions until tomorrow at midnight. This photo shows the value of scouting a spot ahead of time and to keeping an open mind when you previsualize a shot.
Frank Ceravalo submitted this photo to the new Cloudy Days Assignment which is open until June 11th. In the rainy, overcast conditions, strong, evocative photos can be made. Here, the soft light and foggy atmosphere gave Ceravalo a perfect opportunity.
Today's Photo Of The Day was taken by Nathan Firebaugh when he was on Tybee Island in Georgia. Firebaugh used a Canon EOS 6D with a Canon 17-40mm f/4L lens. The silhouette of the person on the right is a small detail in the frame, but I think it really makes the shot.
Kyle Jone sent this photo to the Travel Assignment which is open until June 4th. The photo is form the Li River in China and this vantage point looks over the river toward the famous karst formations near Yangshuo.
Phil Hawkins' photo of Vernal Fall in Yosemite National Park is the Photo Of The Day. It was submitted to the Moving Water Assignment which closed last night. This pool below the fall is unaccessible for much of the year.
I see a lot of photos from Havasu Falls. It's among the most sought after landscape photo locations in the West, but I've never seen one quite like this. Valerie Millett took this photo which she calls Starry Starry Night under the night sky and she submitted it to the Moving Water Assignment which is currently open for submission.
