“I recently spent 10 days in the remote wilderness of Gates of the Arctic National Park in northern Alaska,” says Foster. “The park has no roads, trails or infrastructure and is situated entirely above the arctic circle. Known for its untouched beauty, it’s one of the most ruggedly scenic places I’ve ever experienced. We spent our time in the Arrigetch Peaks region, continually in awe of the vertical granite walls and sharp spires. ‘The Citadel’ was taken as rain clouds moved in and out, allowing the sunlight to shine on the broad face of the mountain. The small stream in the foreground was perfectly still, creating symmetry and leading lines to balance the image. It was a moment I won’t soon forget!”
