Congratulations to John Mumaw for winning the Fall Colors Assignment!
“Autumn in the San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado sees hundreds of photographers visiting the area from throughout the world,” Mumaw says. “And deservedly so, as the combination of golden aspens and colorful oak brush provide a stunning complement to the beautiful mountain scenery. The lower section of County Road 7 in Ouray County, Colorado, is one of those places that is usually packed with photographers during autumn, especially during the morning and evening hours. However, on a cold Sunday morning there were only a handful of lucky souls to witness this fleeting moment when Mt. Sneffels revealed itself briefly after a fresh snowfall.”
Equipment and Settings: Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon 24-105mm lens @ 45mm, Feisol tripod, circular polarizer ; 1/6 sec. shutter speed at f8, ISO 100.
