Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Galactic Watchman” by Ryan Moyer. Location: Zion National Park, Utah.
“This shot was taken from the famous bridge over the Virgin River at Zion National Park,” explains Moyer. “It’s often shot at sunset, but I knew that I wanted to attempt something more unique from the spot. So I figured out what time of year the Milky Way would slot perfectly into the curve of the landscape above the river. I live about five hours away, so I drove down that afternoon, took the shot overnight and drove back home in the morning. The foreground was lit by a small LED panel I put a little ways down the bridge and the Watchman (the mountain in the distance) was lit by light pollution from the nearby town of Springdale, UT.”
Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Galleries and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage, Facebook and Twitter. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
