Myself and a couple of friends decided that we wanted to head down to the Gardiner River in Yellowstone Park and take a dip in what is called the Boiling River. Many people travel here to soak in the warm waters that are comparable to a hot tub. Being from Montana, we have visited this place many times before but on this day, as we were walking along the trail, we came across an entire herd of bison crossing the river ahead of us and mingle along the trail between us and our final destination which is pictured in the background of this image. With frigid waters to our left and a very steep embankment to our right, there wasn't any way around this herd. We decided to keep put distance and take some good photos of one of Yellowstone's iconic mammals. Equipment used - Canon 5D MKIV, Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II with a Canon EF 2x Teleconverter III @ f/8, ISO 500, 1/320sec. Handheld at 400mm.
