Metalko Falls by Patricia Davidson
Photographer Patricia Davidson:
“I had been to the Columbia River Gorge a couple of times during the spring but didn’t get another chance to go until summer. I thought there wouldn’t be much green left, but to my surprise there was still plenty for July. I took this shot on an overcast day with some rain. It was the perfect conditions for hiking the 12 miles up and back the Eagle Creek Trail. We encountered thunder and lightning which made for a memorable hike! Metlako Falls is one of the gorgeous waterfalls that is accessible from the trail. I have seen many photos of Metlako and always wanted to photograph this one. I knew there was no easy way to get close to this waterfall so I had to settle for shooting with a zoom lens, my Canon 24-105mm.
“I did some basic edits in Lightroom and Photoshop. I mainly removed a few twigs that were distracting on the left bottom of the frame. Other than that, I was pretty happy with the composition and natural colors of the greens.”
Davidson used a Canon EOS 7D with a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS EF USM AF lens
