Hoya EVO Antistatic Filter Series
Landscape, wildlife and adventure photographers who are constantly battling dusty, sandy and drizzly weather conditions will be excited to hear about Kenko Tokina USA’s new Hoya EVO Antistatic Filter Series.
Available in protectors, UVs and circular polarizers, the filters have an antistatic coating that repels dust meaning clear photos with fewer interuptions for lens cleaning. The top layer is resistant to scratches, stains and water. A rep at Kenko Tokina told me “a sharpie marker beads right up and wipes of the EVO ANTISTATIC coating very easily.” While I have yet to test this myself, a photo from the company comparing the Antistatic filter to a standard multi-coated filter is included below.
Protector and UV filters will range from $45-110 while Circular Polarizers will range from $85-180. Kenko Tokina USA expects the first shipment to arrive in approximately 3 weeks.

Huntington Beach, CA. – (July 22, 2014) – Kenko Tokina USA, Inc. is proud to introduce the new
Hoya EVO ANTISTATIC series of professional photographic filters.
Hoya EVO Antistatic Filter Series
Hoya engineers have developed a new ANTISTATIC coating that acts like a force field around the filter
to repel dust. Perfect for environments where dust is common, these filters require less frequent cleaning and maintenance than traditional filters. Additionally, the hardened, antistatic top-layer is water repellent, stain and scratch resistant, and cleans easily when smudges or fingerprints are
introduced to the surface.
The new EVO ANTISTATIC professional filters are made in Japan using hand selected silicates that are carefully smelted and blended to yield high performance optical glass. Hoya then uses extreme care and precision to apply the Improved 16-layer Super Multi-coating formula which greatly reducesor eliminates reflections on the surface of the glass and yields a 99.8% light transmission rate. This means the filter has virtually no effect on the color balance, contrast, or clarity of the final image.
Hoya EVO Antistatic Filter – Stain Resistance Test
The filters in the new EVO ANTISTATIC series* utilize a lightweight, one-piece, low-profile aluminum
frame to house the glass. This one-piece design allows the filter to maintain perfect parallel alignment
to the sensor plane for maximum sharpness, while the low-profile frame eliminates vignetting when
used on ultra-wide-angle lenses.
The new EVO ANTISTATIC series of filters consist of a Protector, UV, and Circular Polarizer in
common sizes ranging from 37mm to 82mm.
