Photo Of The Day For Friday The 13th

It’s Friday the 13th and I considered pulling together a collection of famous triskaidekaphobiacs for today’s photo of the day (did you know that the 20th century composer Arnold Schoenberg is believed to have worried himself to death on Friday The 13th Of July, 1951?), but this is Outdoor Photographer so I decided a great photograph from the OP Assignments Galleries would be a better choice and help get all of us through the pall of bad luck that’s hanging in the air. Joseph Thomas sent this photograph to the Sense Of Place Assignment. It’s immediately striking, but as you look at it for a few moments the many facets of the scene emerge. There’s the starburst sun hanging just above the horizon, the texture of the sand dunes, the brooding clouds, the rain shower being lit up by the warm sunlight and the snow-covered mountain summit.
