Black Oaks Of The Valley by Matt Purciel
With Hurricane Sandy bearing down on the East Coast, today’s Photo Of The Day comes from the recent Stormy Weather Assignment. Matt Purciel took this photo in Yosemite Valley. He writes, “While I was trying to capture a shot of El Capitan in the center of the shot was this scene. I loved the way the stark contrast of the black oak against the illuminated face of El Capitan. The storm clouds were enshrouding the nearby cliffs creating some interesting and moodly light.”
Get your photos into the running for the Photo Of The Day by submitting the OP galleries. I select a Photo Of The Day everyday. Images come from Your Favorite Places, Assignments and the contest galleries. The Assignments and the Your Favorite Places sections of the website have been improved with larger photos and new functions. Take a look at the improvements. You can see more of my Photo Of The Day selections on the OP Blog.
The Fall Color Assignment is currently open for submissions.
