Photo Of The Day 9/20/2012
Amnesty by Kristin Wolter
Kristin Wolter submitted this photograph of Crater Lake in Oregon to the new National Parks Assignment. Wolter calls the photo Amnesty. She describes why she gave it that title, “I have named this image Amnesty in hopes that this beautiful planet will grant forgiveness to the humans that inhabit it and take it for granted. A plea of sorts to the only National Park in Oregon.”
Getting to this vantage point for the early morning light wasn’t easy. After setting out from Diamond Lake Lodge at 4:30 in the morning, Wolter drove for an hour then hiked in snowshoes for 35 minutes. She writes that she had, “just enough time to catch this sunrise on a cold, windy day. Forgetting to replace the tripod adapter on my camera was not helpful in trying to capture images.”
The National Parks Assignment is open for submissions. I’ll be looking at this Assignment for some upcoming articles in OP, so please send in your best shots.
