Photo Of The Day 9/21/2012
Evening Serenity by Sara Leow
Going into a weekend, there’s nothing I’d like more than to be enjoying a beautiful scene just like this. Congratulations to Sara Leow for today’s Photo Of The Day which was sent to the new National Parks Assignment. Leow writes about the sscene, “My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the view from the Green River Overlook in the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park. We felt this photo really captures the essence of Canyonlands by showing us enjoying the serenity of the massive landscape created by powerful natural forces.” Looking at this photo, I’m also reminded of Galen Rowell whose work we’re celebrating in the October issue of OP. Rowell frequently appeared in his photographs whoch gave a human connection to the landscapes he photographed. See the article Lessons Learned From Galen Rowell in the magazine or check it out online here.
The National Parks Assignment is open for submissions. I’ll be looking at this Assignment for some upcoming articles in OP, so please send in your best shots.
Click here to see all of the Assignments. Get your photos into the running for the Photo Of The Day by submitting the OP galleries. I select a Photo Of The Day everyday. Images come from Your Favorite Places, Assignmentsand the contest galleries. We’ve revamped Assignments and the Your Favorite Places sections of the website and you’ll see some great improvements. You can see more of my Photo Of The Day selections on the OP Blog.
