Moe Chen’s photograph from Acadia National Park in Maine gets today’s Photo Of The Day honors. Photographs showing the night sky like this are becoming increasingly difficult to take due to the problems of light pollution. Around Acadia National Park, however, there are ordinances to limit light pollution to help preserve the night skies of Acadia. The photograph was submitted to the National Parks Assignment which is currently open for submissions.
Quick tip for Milky Way photography: To render the stars as sharp points of light (no blurring) limit the exposure to less than 30 seconds or use a tracking camera mount like astronomers and astrophotographers do.
