Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Blue Mood” by Bob Larson. Location: Watson Lake, outside of Prescott, Arizona.
“Following a rather big storm in the dark of night, I went to where the lightning was flashing,” explains Larson. “Thankfully, I know Watson Lake pretty well and was able to work my way out on the granite in the dark as my flashlight had long since decided the batteries were done with their gig. This is a shot I’ve taken about a thousand times at sunset throughout the years, so once I got situated I knew what to line up and where to do it. Then it was a matter of waiting for the strikes while doing long exposures, adjusting the camera slightly after each one lit the scene enough to show what I was shooting. The wind picked up, and shortly after that a light mist, and immediately after that a huge downpour! I ditched the scene after about 10 more seconds and by the time I got back to the car I looked as if I had been swimming in my clothes!”
Sony A7, Rokinon 14mm. Exposure: 30 sec, f/11, ISO 400.
