Photo Of The Day By Douglas Croft
Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Halfhearted” by Douglas Croft. Location: Monterey Bay, California.
“A halfhearted breach by a humpback whale in Monterey Bay,” describes Croft. “It could be expected since he had already done roughly 20 breaches before this one and they take a lot of energy. We watched this one for an hour as he repeatedly did full breaches, chin slaps, half breaches and then more full breaches. It was an amazing show. I loved the perspective and detail in this shot.”

Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Galleries and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
