Ed Boudreau made a spontaneous change of plans while climbing to the summit of The Butte in Alaska and ended up with this sunset shot, which is today’s Photo of the Day.
“My goal was to make it up the 800+ foot summit of Butte Mt in Palmer Alaska to get a shot of the sunset on the Knik Glacier to the East. I’ve never climbed the Butte before so I was not ready for the straight up accent and I quickly realized after an hour of climbing (only 500 feet) that I was not going to make the sunset. I took a trail less traveled (made my own) and headed to the west side of the Hill and was able to shoot this image of the fireweed set ablaze by Alaska’s brilliant Sunset,” says Boudreau.
Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Your Favorite Places and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage and several images from the Assignment Gallery are featured in The Best Of Assignments section in print. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
