With the intention of capturing some fall color, Greg Clure ended up catching a first snow in his photo ‘Frosty Morning’.

“It snowed the first night in Lee Vining on my annual fall foliage pilgrimage to the Eastern Sierras. The next morning, after photographing the sunrise at Mono Lake, I headed up to Conway Summit to visit a grouping of aspens in front of a mountain peak backdrop that I always return to year after year. I was not disappointed and was greeted with the season’s first snow fall,” recounts Clure. He used a Canon 5D Mark II with an EF 24-105mm f/4 lens for this shot.

Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including AssignmentsYour Favorite Places and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage and several images from the Assignment Gallery are picked to be featured in The Best Of Assignments section in print. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
