Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Granite Perch” by Harry Lichtman. Location: White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire.
“Wide-angle lenses are terrific for emphasizing foreground elements by using the natural distortion inherent in the lens,” says Lichtman. “When near features, such as this colorful lichen-covered granite bench, presented itself during a hike on New Hampshire’s Garfield Ridge, I decided to make a major part of the image. The distant mountains were leafing out and a vibrant green, but the granite folds caught the light of sunrise and became the textural centerpiece of the image.”
Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Galleries and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
