Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Star Light…Star Bright” by Harry Lichtman. Location: White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire.
“Star Lake sits at the base of New Hampshire’s Mount Madison in the Presidential Range,” says Lichtman. “While not a very deep lake, the most interesting feature to me is the lichen-covered rocks that occupy the south shore. While I have shot this scene at sunrise, I thought a night view would be more unique. I shot the base exposure about 30 minutes after sunset, then waited until around 11:30 p.m. to capture the star field. A crescent moon added a little additional ambient light and accounts for the shadow on the peak. Windy conditions created a milky appearance in the water as gusty winds approached 20 MPH during the exposure.”
