‘Milky Way Castle’ by Ivan Pedretti captures the starry night sky cascading over the Acquafredda Castle in Cixerri, Sardinia, Italy.
“In the valley of Cixerri, Sardinia, suddenly appears the inaccessible rock of the Acquafredda medieval fortress, which was built in the 13th Century by the count Ugolino Della Gherardesca, quoted in the ‘Divina Commedia’ of Dante Alighieri. 16 shots. I was fascinated by the location of this castle so I had to make a composition in this nocturnal landscape. I spent a few hours taking the scenic and occasionally clouds appeared moving in the sky. I thought the movement was noise, and I was annoyed by this as I wanted a clean sky, but then once I created an overview with all the shots the clouds created a second arc almost like the smoke that comes from the mouth of a volcano. All this enriched the composition rather than being a nuisance. It was a pleasant luck that I got that night,” recounts Pedretti.
