Photo Of The Day by Jared Ropelato
Racing By The Light Of The Moon by Jared Ropelato
The Death Valley playa known as The Racetrack is perennial favorite location for OP readers. The mysterious sailing stones weave winding trails on the playa driven by wind when the ground is slick. Some ascribe magical powers to the stone which has led to a dramatic decline in their numbers as stones have been taken. Jared Ropelato’s photo was taken by moonlight and submitted to the recent Shooting In The Dark Assignment. He used a Canon EOS 5D Mark II DSLR.
I select a Photo Of The Day every day. I choose the images from the various OP galleries including Assignments, Your Favorite Places and all of the OP Contests. Also, for each issue of the magazine I go through the Assignments galleries and choose a few to be featured in The Best Of Assignments in print and I select a weekly winner to be featured on the OP home page. To get your photos into the running all you have to do is submit them.
