Photo Of The Day By Julian Kegel
Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Godwin Glacier Abyss” by Julian Kegel. Location: Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska.
“Dangling over the edge of this extremely clean and deep break in the tongue of Godwin Glacier, the depth of the extent of how much light is absorbed into the glacier’s ice can be seen as a progression of hue changes,” said Julian Kegel. “The deeper it gets, even the higher wavelengths of blue are trapped at depths of about 100 feet.”
Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Your Favorite Places and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage and several images from the Assignment Gallery are picked to be featured in The Best Of Assignments section in the print magazine. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
