Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Silver and Gold” by Les Zeppelin Baran. Location: Silver Lake, Eastern Sierra, California.

“It was windy and cold at the end of this day,” explains Baran. I chose this location near the lake because I heard on a local radio station that a snowstorm was coming from Yosemite to the east. This forecast is almost perfect all the time, I can tell based on my four-year experience in the Eastern Sierra. Two hours after sunset, snow started falling. It was the cusp of winter and fall—I was struggling with the wind, especially with the extra weight added from my tripod. The wind created waves on the lake. It was a fantastic show of legendary Eastern Sierra light, wind and the fall; I will always remember.”

Exposure: 0.6 sec, f/22, ISO 100, 24mm.
