‘Cloud Ring at Red Rock’ by Matt Carr
The Red Rock State Park in AZ usually experiences mild winters with temperatures in the 50s during the day and 30s at night, making snowfall rare. Matt Carr submitted today’s Photo of the Day to the Unexpected Weather Assignment since he captured this image of snow at the Red Rock Cliffs. “After a severe early winter storm rolled through southern Nevada this past autumn, I was fortunate enough to capture this scene of the clouds parting momentarily to show some traces of snow on top of those very cliffs,” says Carr.
Carr used a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and Canon EF 70-200mm 2.8L USM lens.
Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Your Favorite Places and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage and several images from the Assignment Gallery are picked to be featured in The Best Of Assignments section in the print magazine. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
