Photo Of The Day by Michael Lindberg
Autumn Star by Michael Lindberg
Nevada isn’t usually the first place that leaps to mind when one mentions fall color. In this photo, Michael Lindberg shows that the arid state in the desert southwest shouldn’t be dismissed. His photo, Autumn Star was submitted to the Autumn Sunsets Assignment. “Nevada does not get much attention for its fall colors,” Lindberg writes. “The state is covered in bunny bush and sage. Yet there are certain areas, which can be loaded with colors at the right time. In the fall the bunny bush blossoms and turns bright yellow. A few weeks after the dogwoods follow suit. I tried many times to catch the trees reaching their peak while the bunny bush still held onto the yellows which were diminishing quick.” Lindberg took this photo near Reno, Nevada. He used a Pentax K-5, Pentax smc-DA 15mm f/4 ED AL lens, a Benro Tripod and a Hoya circular polarizer.
I choose the OP Photo Of The Day from the various OP galleries including Assignments, Your Favorite Places and all of the OP Contests. Also, for each issue of the magazine I go through the Assignments galleries and choose a few to be featured in The Best Of Assignments in print and I select a weekly winner to be featured on the OP home page. To get your photos into the running all you have to do is submit them.
