‘Tunnel View Clearing’ by Paul Smithson Phillips
Today’s Photo of the Day is ‘Tunnel View Clearing’ shot by Paul Smithson Phillips with a Canon EOS 6D, Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L lens and Manfrotto tripod.
“This picture was taken from Tunnel View in Yosemite National Park. I was at Yosemite for a couple of weeks. I’m an early riser. Each morning I made my way to Tunnel View in the predawn hours. I find Tunnel View an excellent place to observe weather patterns over the valley. I also think it’s a great place to start the day. As predawn light started lighting the valley below I knew I was in for a show. It rained the night before and there was plenty of moisture in the air. I was the only photographer at Tunnel View at the time and the only one able to take advantage of the dramatic clouds unfolding. All I could do is describe the clouds to other photographers as they showed up,” says Phillips.
Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Your Favorite Places and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage and several images from the Assignment Gallery are picked to be featured in The Best Of Assignments section in the print magazine. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
