Happy New Year!
Today’s Photo Of The Day is “A Delicate Night” by Ryan Moyer.
Taken in Arches National Park, Utah, Moyer had this to say about his image: “Hiking up to Delicate Arch at night with no moon was interesting. I actually missed a turn and ended up down in the bowl beneath the arch at first, with no idea that’s where I was. Luckily, I wasn’t the only one making the trek that night and someone already up at the top shined his light down to let me know what was going on. When I got to the top I couldn’t really get a composition I liked with the position of the Milky Way fairly early in the season. So I climbed up on some rocks off in a far corner that is less often trekked to, and found a good spot to capture the entirety of the Milky Way from tip to tip. This was an 8-shot panorama with a 14mm FF lens, so the FoV here was almost 180 degrees. Some light pollution from Moab and airglow added color the sky with the long camera exposures at high ISO.”
Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Your Favorite Places and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage and several images from the Assignment Gallery are picked to be featured in The Best Of Assignments section in the print magazine. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
