Photo Of The Day by Steph Sawyer
“Shadow’s Color” by Steph Sawyer
If Steph Sawyer’s name is familiar to readers of OP, it’s because she won our 2013 American Landscape contest with a photo taken in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She is today’s Photo Of The Day winner with another Wyoming image. This one was sent to the Wildflowers Assignment. That Assignment has been extended until May 20th at midnight.
Sawyer describes how she got this photo, “Boy, does it pay to get up super early on vacation sometimes. 4:15 AM to be exact! It would have been so easy to just roll over and go back to sleep. But since there was some decent clouds that rolled through the previous evening (after 3 solid days of clear skies) I was hoping for a colorful sunrise. The clouds weren’t exactly what I was hoping for, but it’s hard to go wrong when you have flowers like this. Taken on a hillside near Jackson Hole.”
She used a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF16-35mm f/2.8L lens, Lee filters and a Manfrotto tripod.
Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Your Favorite Places and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage and several images from the Assignment Gallery are picked to be featured in The Best Of Assignments section in the print magazine. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
