Michael “Nick” Nichols is a long-time photographer for National Geographic and we’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with him many times for Outdoor Photographer. For The Surprising Life Of Lions in the August issue of National Geographic, Nichols used cameras mounted on aerial copters and specially-designed remote systems to capture never-before-seen footage of the magnificent cats. Nichols spent a year in Africa working on the project. In an interview on The Today Show, Nichols explained how he got the extraordinary photographs and video footage.
