New Sigma I Series Lenses For Full-Frame Mirrorless
Sigma introduced three new lenses for full-frame mirrorless cameras in its Sigma I series. Offered in the Leica/Panasonic/Sigma L-Mount as well as Sony E-Mount, Sigma positions these as premium lenses with “exceptional optical performance and stylish, compact design.”
The three new primes in the Sigma I series are the 24mm F3.5 DG DN | Contemporary (left), 35mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary (center) and 65mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary (right).
The three new lenses in the Sigma I series are the 24mm F3.5 DG DN | Contemporary, 35mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary and 65mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary. They join the existing 45mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary. All of these lenses have an all-metal body as well as metal internal components, a manual aperture ring and an AF/Manual focus mode switch.
The 24mm F3.5 DG DN | Contemporary has a minimum focusing distance of 4.3 inches and magnification of 0.5x, so while it’s not a true macro lens, it is capable of very close focusing for wide compositions with prominent foreground subjects. It’s a very compact lens with the L-Mount version measuring 2.5 inches in diameter and 1.9 inches in length. (The E-Mount versions of all three lenses are 0.1 inches longer than the L-Mount.) List price: $549.
The 35mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary offers a minimum focusing distance of 10.6 inches and a magnification ratio of 1:5.7. It measures 2.8 inches and diameter and 2.6 inches in length (L-Mount). List price: $639.
The 65mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary has a minimum focusing distance of 21.7 inches and a 1:6.8 magnification ratio. With a diameter of 2.8 inches and a length of 2.9 inches (L-Mount), it’s the largest of the three new lenses, but still very compact. List price: $699.
All three lenses have expected availability of mid-January 2021. For additional details, see the press release below.
