Stormy Weather Assignment Winner Susan Taylor
“Yosemite National Park Light Show” By Susan Taylor
Congratulations to Susan Taylor for winning the Stormy Weather Assignment!
“This one has a story . . . Was it worth it?” said Taylor. “Well, I was pretty tired after spending a sleepless but spectacular night in Yosemite while counting over 50+ strikes of thunder and lightning (some two miles away) while parked at Tunnel View. I must admit I was a bit scared this time. Near dawn I decided to shoot some lightning since it had settled down quite a bit compared to hours before. After setting up my tripod and camera I realized my lightning trigger was malfunctioning, so I decided to shoot a long exposure set in manual mode. Well . . . yes it was worth it! I captured this image within 10 seconds of my first 30-second exposure. I was lucky, thrilled and pleased this time! That was it . . . I packed up my gear and rushed off ready for more adventures in the park.
Equipment & Settings: Canon EOS 5DS R, Canon ƒ/2.8 16-35mm II Lens, Induro Tripod, Really Right Stuff Tripod Head.
