WILDSpeak 2016: Laurent Geslin
Laurent Geslin is one of many highly anticipated presenters who will explore how photography and video are impacting conservation efforts around the globe at the International League of Conservation Photographers’ WILDspeak Symposium, November 15 & 16, 2016, in Washington D.C. Geslin will present a program titled, European Lynx: Revealed.
Throughout his career in photography, Laurent Geslin has covered a broad range of subjects, but his most recent project comes full circle back to his first passion: wildlife. Geslin worked as a wildlife guide in France, South Africa and Namibia before moving to London where he became a professional photographer and specialized in press and portrait photography. He then began traveling the world, and an exhibition on the experiences of forced exile in Western Africa held at the United Nations in Geneva was one of his biggest. In addition to expanding his interests to portraiture and reportage, he completed a project called “Urban Safari” to show how animals adapt to urban expansion.
Now residing in Switzerland, Geslin works with KORA where he documents their work in the field studying an animal that’s rarely been photographed in the wild: the European lynx. He also spent four years photographing the elusive cat using camera traps and hides, which he turned into an exhibition and book, “LYNX, regards croisés.”
Join Geslin at WILDSpeak where he’ll discuss this unique project and show a short video that shows an unforgettable encounter with a female lynx and her three cubs in the Jura mountains.
