Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures has been around since the early 80s and no wonder. Their tag line is, “Seek your own vision, and create great photos!” Photography, they say, is not a herd mentality. They firmly believe that if you are having fun, you will take chances in a safe setting and discover new possibilities. After all, you are amongst friends, as their BCPA family is very strong and very supportive.
While they don’t tell you what to photograph, they take you to great locales and pride themselves on giving you the tools you need to make great photos and to continue to grow as a photographer when you leave them at the end of a workshop. And always, Arnie and Margo stress aesthetics over techno-babble.
A maximum 4:1 with occasional exceptions, student-instructor ratio ensures lots of individual attention, help, and critiques in both the classroom and field. Many consider the daily BCPA critique sessions the most valuable part of their workshops.
Unless you are on the loo or in bed, or you have disappeared to make that can’t-miss shot, Margo and Arnie are with you and your fellow enthusiasts the whole workshop, ready to help you when you need it in the field or in post-processing an image.
One of the fun things for Arnie and Margo is watching the friendships grow that last way beyond the initial time together. In fact, many of their alumni travel together long after the workshop is over and arrange to meet up in future workshops or get-togethers.
They also hold a well-attended Alumni Reunion every year with people coming from all across the country. Some have attended workshops together; others may only know each other through Facebook or Instagram and finally, get to put a live face to those connections. And there is an archival print exchange that Arnie and Margo participate in, too.
So, please join Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures and follow the lead of hundreds of photographers who have come and keep returning for tune-ups and/or getting that needed push so they can move on to the next level in their photographic journey.
