Dan Holmes Sun Rays Over The Valley
After a hiatus, Photo Of The Day is back. Today's photo was submitted by Dan Holmes to the Spring 2013 Assignment Gallery. He photographed the vista in California's San Joaquin Valley.  He describes the scene, "The hillside in this area was lightly grazed, had enough rainfall and was on a northwest exposure - perfect conditions for this years spring bloom. Fiddle neck, Yellow Milk Vetch, Lupine, clover, and scattered California Poppies. This day , following a light rain, was an amazing display of light, cloud textures, sun rays, and bloom."
Dan Holmes used a Canon EOS 5DMkII DSL, Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 wide-angle zoom lens, an Induro Tripod with a Manfrotto ballhead and a Singh-Ray Grad ND Filter. The lens was set at 23mm and the exposure was  1/20th sec @ f/8, ISO 500
Helmes has Submitted a number of beautiful images to the OP galleries. You can see them all on his Gallery Page.
I'll be choosing a Photo Of The Day every day. I'll be choosing the images from the various OP galleries including Assignments, Your Favorite Places and all of the OP Contests.
