This sunrise wasn't supposed to happen. My alarm rang a 5:00 am and I stumbled out of my cabin to survey the weather. Wind, rain, and clouds as far I could see. The weather radar confirmed my analysis, thick clouds and rain all day. I wanted nothing more than to go back to bed but something compelled me to go out. I started the steep hike up Owl's Head in the dark sure that I'd get nothing out of it. And nothing did happen for the first hour. But just as I was about to give in, I saw a glow break through the clouds to the east. For a few moments I was rewarded with this spectacular light display before the clouds swept in and took the light with it. This is why I get up a 5am to witness a sunrise that may never come.
