Yosemite National Park’s south entrance is about 60 miles north of Fresno, CA, on highway 41. The Yosemite Valley is in the southwestern area of the park, and the main loop consists of the Southside Drive (south of the Merced River), and Northside Drive (north of the river). The Valley View parking area from where this shot was taken, is at the west end of Northside Drive.
Taken at 22mm (Canon EF-S 10-22), ISO 400, 1/1000 sec., f/8, Aperture-Priority, one-shot AF.
Taken from the bank of the Merced River at the Valley View stop in the Yosemite Valley, I thought the slow-moving water, wispy clouds, and open meadow made for a very peaceful setting. Taken from the valley floor, as opposed to shooting from higher elevations, the size and majesty of El Capitan on the left, and Cathedral Rocks and Bridalveil Fall on the right, can be more appreciated.
