I was visiting family in Beaverton and we toured downtown Portland. I found the fountain and the red brick building in the background very appealing. The lighting was such that I decided to take multiple exposures with the intention of trying an HDR composite later in photoshop. I'm not familiar with the process, so was unsure of what I was doing. But the picture turned out okay anyway. Most of the HDR photos I see have a, shall I call it, delightfully surreal look to them. Which can be very attractive when done well. For me, I just wanted to see into the scene, see all the details that the bright, high contrast light tends to hide in a normal photo. Without the HDR process, this picture would not have been possible. I hope to do more in the future.
